Happy New Year!

Writer's picture: Jessica BryantJessica Bryant

First off, I know everyone is curious about the recent earthquake. I did feel the earthquake, but I'm safe! The distance between Tokyo and where the earthquake happened is about two states. It was a big one since I still felt it, but I am safe. My sister Nicole was here so she experienced her first shakes and quakes of the earth.

This month has been full of adventures with friends and family. My sister Nicole came to visit and it was great to have her here for Christmas. This was her first big solo trip so far from home in a long time and I am very thankful that she made the journey to spend time with me in my new home.

I finished up another semester and have been enjoying winter break. I had walking pneumonia during my big week of final exams and assessments which was a bit stressful, but I made it through.

The big update this month is that I switched Japanese schools and I had orientation at my new school yesterday! I applied for this new school months ago but there were no openings. For some reason God loves to wait until the last minute to make things happen throughout my whole journey to Japan and the same thing happened yet again. A week before the deadline some of my team was starting to get nervous, but I had a dream that a spot opened for me and all was well so I wasn't too worried about it. The day before the deadline I got a call that someone had dropped out and they had a spot for me! So far I really like the school and I think this will be a better fit for me. This school is closer to me so instead of taking the train for 90 minutes each way, it will be about 70 minutes each way. I will be getting 40 minutes of my life back each day and I am pumped!

Here are some recent photos including our Alliance team at Fall Retreat, my sister Nicole and I making Gyoza at a church event, and climbing Mt. Takao with the worship team and some of my classmates. From the top of Mt. Takao we could see Mt. Fuji!

Thank you for keeping me in your heart and in your prayers. Please pray for me as I make yet another transition to this new school.

As always, thank you so much for your continued prayers, support, and love!! Much love from Japan!

Yay! I’m glad you got into the new school! Also glad the pneumonia took a time out.
